VICKSBURG ? A federal judge has postponed a trial for former Vicksburg Mayor Paul Winfield on charges he sought $10,000 in cash in exchange for awarding a city contract.

Paul Winfield?s trial was scheduled to start tomorrow in Natchez. On Friday, however, U.S. District Judge David Bramlette delayed it until Sept. 30 to give prosecutors and defense attorneys more time to negotiate a possible resolution of the case.

The Vicksburg Post reports that Winfield was arrested by the FBI earlier this year after he allegedly solicited a bribe from a confidential FBI informant for awarding a debris removal contract.

The Democrat served one term as mayor before losing his re-election bid this year.

If convicted at trial, Winfield faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Fergie Is Still Pregnant And Rocking Leather Pants

Yes, Fergie is STILL pregnant ... and looking fabulous at that.

The 38-year-old mom-to-be was spotted leaving church with her husband Josh Duhamel in Brentwood, Calif., this afternoon (Aug. 4), wearing leather spandex pants, a multi-colored shirt and bright blue bomber. Fergie, who is due sometime in the very near future, hid under a large hat and sunglasses as she held hands with Duhamel, who was smiling from ear-to-ear.

The couple recently revealed they're expecting a baby boy when Duhamel held up a blue onesie on "Live with Kelly and Michael" in July.

"I plan on taking [off] as much time as I can just before and as much time as possible after," Duhamel told ET Canada. "I can't imagine having a kid and then not being able to be there. That would just drive me crazy. My head would be at home with mom and baby."

See Fergie's maternity style below:

One dead, 11 injured, when car drives through Los Angeles boardwalk

By Dana Feldman

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A motorist drove a car through the popular Venice Beach boardwalk in Los Angeles on Saturday, killing one person and injuring 11 others in a hit-and-run incident that spanned several city blocks, authorities said.

"There was a hit-and-run and the vehicle is in custody. The driver fled on foot. There is a possible suspect who has been detained," said Daniel Chun, spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Witnesses described the driver as a white man in his mid-20s with sandy blond hair, and the detained suspect fit that description, said Los Angeles Police Lieutenant Andy Neiman.

"We have a vehicle in custody ... with collision damage consistent with what happened out here," Neiman said, adding it was a four-door, dark-colored Dodge Avenger.

Witnesses said the car traveled as fast as 20 miles per hour down the oceanside pedestrian walkway at around 6 p.m., said Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The driver ditched his car in nearby Santa Monica, Neiman said. The suspect who police have detained and are questioning turned himself in after the incident.

Police do not know the driver's motive or if he had been drinking, Neiman said, adding that the suspect will face homicide charges in addition to felony hit-and-run charges.

Ten of the 12 people injured were taken to hospitals - two in critical condition, one of whom died, and two in serious condition. Of the eight who sustained minor injuries, two declined hospital treatment, Humphrey said.

Injuries included broken bones, head trauma and soft tissue damage, Humphrey said, adding that more than 100 emergency responders were on scene and crews had set up a triage area to treat those injured.

Local CBS affiliate KCAL9 quoted witnesses as saying the driver appeared to be trying to strike pedestrians.

A man who said he worked at a nearby cafe told NBC4 that he heard what sounded like a car hurtling down an alleyway, followed by screams.

"Firefighters never saw the vehicle and we never saw the driver," Humphrey said.

The Venice Beach boardwalk is a major tourist attraction known for its eclectic patchwork of shops, restaurants and sporting areas.

In 2003, an elderly man drove his car through a crowded farmers' market in nearby Santa Monica, killing 10 people and injuring 69.

EIA: US Crude Oil Reserves Set Record in 2011, Natural Gas Also Up

Proved crude oil reserve additions in the United States reached a record volumetric increase in 2011, the second year in a row that a record was set, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in its Today in Energy brief, which was released Thursday. The increase in crude oil reserves of 15 percent ? or about 3.8 billion barrels ? sent crude oil reserves to the highest level since 1985.

While not setting a record, proved natural gas reserves increased by nearly 10 percent ? or about 31.2 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) ? making it the second largest annual increase since 1977. Additions to reserves of natural gas might have been even larger, had a drop in natural gas prices not occurred, the EIA said.

The data for 2011 was the most recent year that complete data was available, an EIA spokesperson told Rigzone. Data for 2012 is still being collected.

?Proved reserves are those volumes of oil and natural gas that geological and engineering data demonstrate with reasonable certainty to be recoverable in future years from known reservoirs under existing economic and operating conditions,? the EIA explained.

The increases were driven by a combination of technology and producing formations.

?Horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing in shale and other tight rock formations continued to increase oil and natural gas reserves,? said Adam Sieminski, EIA administrator.

The rise in proved reserves began sometime in the mid-2000s, and coincides with the increased use of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing technics in shale formations.

Proved oil reserves, including crude oil and lease condensate, were up by 29 billion barrels. That was the third consecutive yearly increase and the largest volume of proved reserves since 1985. Proved reserves in tight oil plays made up 3.6 billion barrels ? 13 percent ? of total proved reserves of crude oil and lease condensate in 2011, the EIA said.

The largest increase in proved oil reserves was in Texas, and was due mainly to the Eagle Ford formation in the Western Gulf Basin, and the Permian Basin shale formation. The second largest increase was in North Dakota, and was attributed to the Bakken formation in the Williston Basin.

The two states of Texas and Pennsylvania combined to add almost three-quarters, or 73 percent, of the net increase in p reserves in 2010, increased its reserves by 12.7 Tcf in 2011. That was about 41 percent of the overall gain in proved resources in 2011. Sales gas plays accounted for 131.6 Tcf ?or about 38 percent ? of total proved reserves of natural gas in 2011.?

Sikhs sidestep fights over Wis. rampage donations

OAK CREEK, Wis. (AP) ? In the aftermath of shooting rampages in Colorado, Virginia and elsewhere, victims' families have clashed over how to distribute money donated by well-wishers. But after a gunman killed six worshippers at a Milwaukee-area Sikh temple last year, survivors and their families vowed not to let money divide them.

In the weeks following the August 2012 shooting, $1.1 million in donations poured in to the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin from the U.S., India, Canada, England and elsewhere. Contributions came from individuals, corporations, churches, other Sikh temples and even elementary school children.

Among the victims were a 41-year-old mother of two, her family's primary breadwinner, and an 84-year-old man who retired decades earlier. Their different life circumstances raised difficult questions: Do their families deserve an equal share of the money? Or should the families of younger or higher-earning victims receive more?

In the end, on the advice of outside counsel, temple leaders divided it equally among all six families. It was a controversy-free decision, said Harcharan Gill, a temple trustee.

"There were no issues about, 'Why did you give this much to this person?' They're all just thankful for what they got," Gill said. "There was some rethinking about the need basis, about the age in life. But the people advised us that a life is a life and the value is the same."

Each family's total amounted to more than $125,000. The family of another victim, a 65-year-old priest who has remained nearly comatose since he was shot in the head at close range, also received about the same amount. Another priest was shot twice in the abdomen and survived; his family got about $75,000.

Surinder Kaur's husband, Sita Singh, was among the dead. She and her four children, who range in age from 9 to 20, came to the U.S. from India immediately after the shooting.

Singh said didn't know how her family could have survived without the generosity of the countless anonymous donors.

"The money has gone to rent, food, utilities. There's still some left but life's getting hard," she said, tears welling in her eyes. Her 19- and 20-year-old children are still trying to get work permits in order to help support the family, she said.

The outpouring of financial support followed a rampage a year ago Monday in which Army veteran Wade Michael Page, who had ties to white supremacy groups, killed six people at the temple and wounded five others before killing himself. FBI agents were unable to determine a motive, leaving survivors to forever wonder ? why?

"It's frustrating," said Harpreet Singh, a nephew of the temple's slain president. "But you can do nothing about it, so you let it go."

Besides the two priests injured, three people who suffered minor arm or leg injuries were given several thousand dollars.

And temple officials offered $1,000 apiece to the 26 worshippers who were inside the temple during the shooting, including 16 who squeezed into a tiny pantry for two hours until police told them it was safe to leave. Most, though, gave the money back to the temple, Gill said.

The temple also paid $10,000 to Oak Creek police Officer Brian Murphy, who was shot nine times after he engaged the shooter in gunfire in the parking lot. Murphy now speaks with a rasp and has no feeling in his right leg and forearm.

Satwant Singh Kaleka died in the temple he helped found. The temple president fought off the shooter briefly with a butter knife, a move that first lady Michelle Obama praised as heroic because it gave the women and children enough time to hide.

Kaleka's sons, Pardeep and Amardeep Kaleka, also donated much of their share of the donations back to the temple. About half was used to import five golden fiberglass domes from India to be installed on the temple this week.

"This was something my father always wanted," Pardeep Kaleka said.

Temple officials are still hoping to raise another $1 million to $1.5 million for a memorial to the victims. They also plan to build a Sikh museum or religious center next door where people can learn about Sikhism and its history, an idea that arose after they were flooded with invitations from schools and churches to attend functions and discuss their religion.

"We got so many invitations we weren't able to accommodate all of them," Gill said. "We're really sorry for that."

Punjab Singh, 65, was the most seriously injured; he was shot in the head. He requires around-the-clock care, and his family says it's unlikely he'll ever speak again. His medical bills, which have topped $1 million, are being covered by the temple's insurance.

The insurance company has since amended the temple's policy to exclude coverage of "acts of terror," Harpreet Singh said.

Punjab Singh's sons alternate spending every waking hour by his bedside. They don't have work visas, and have been spending their share of the donations on rent and groceries. They're not sure what will happen when the money runs out.

But they do know one thing.

"We are very, very thankful to those who donated," said Singh's elder son, Raghuvinder Singh. "May God bless those people."

Shrapnel from imploding plant injures 5 spectators

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) ? One man had his leg severed Saturday and four others were also injured as shrapnel from the demolition of a power plant flew into a crowd of more than 1,000 spectators that had gathered in California's Central Valley to watch it come down, officials said.

The crowd gathered at 6 a.m., some sleeping in their cars overnight, in the nearby parking lot of a Lowe's Home Improvement store in Bakersfield to watch the planned implosion of the steam power plant owned by the public utility Pacific Gas and Electric that had been decommissioned for decades.

After buildings came down in a fiery crash, a police officer heard a man screaming for help and saw that his leg had been blown off.

"It was a piece of shrapnel that came flying out of the explosion and came across and went through a couple of chain link fences," said police Lt. Scott Tunnicliffe.

The 44-year-old victim also had major injuries to the other leg, and may lose it also, Tunnicliffe said. Officials declined to release his name.

Four other spectators were treated for minor injuries, said Kern County Fire engineer Leland Davis. All of the injured spectators were standing beyond a perimeter set up to ensure public safety, Davis said.

Fred Garten, 49, was standing behind the perimeter when a piece of metal roughly the size of a household door came flying at him and grazed his right leg, leaving his socks and shorts splattered with blood.

"It's a good gouge, but it's just scratches," Garten told the Bakersfield Californian, which first reported on the incident. "I just feel bad for the other guy. They took him away on a gurney, and I'm walking."

Kelly Patt, 21, who arrived five hours early to get a good view of the blast, said his girlfriend got sprayed with shrapnel but wasn't badly hurt. Patt said he was far more disturbed at seeing the man with the severed leg.

"I saw that dude's leg and I had to walk away," he told the Californian. "There was a lot of blood, a lot of blood."

Several cars were also damaged by the shrapnel.

Residents of the city about 100 miles northwest of Los Angeles were eager to see the old plant torn down to make way for new development. The plant was decommissioned in 1986 and has been idle ever since.

Pacific Gas and Electric reached an agreement with the city to clean up the property and prepare it for sale. The company hired subcontractors to handle the demolition of the plant's boiler structures and worked with local authorities to set up a safe perimeter 1,000 feet from the site, said Denny Boyles, a company spokesman.

"We are deeply saddened that this happened," Boyles said. "We're looking for answers like everyone else."

Boyles said the boiler structure consisted of two towers measuring 140 feet high that supported four 200,000 gallon tanks.

Cleveland Wrecking Co. of Covina, Calif., the main contractor on the demolition, issued a statement expressing sympathy and vowing a thorough investigation but declined further comment.

"This was a terrible accident, and our hearts go out to the individuals who were injured," the statement said. "We will be conducting a full investigation and will cooperate with the authorities."

Several subcontractors also worked on the project.

A previous accident at the same demolition site in 2012 killed a 51-year-old Cleveland Wrecking worker who was suspended in a basket and cutting beams with a torch when one of the beams hit him and he fell 50 feet to his death.

In June of this year in Philadelphia, the wall of a building under demolition collapsed onto a thrift store and killed six people. That contractor was not among those hired for the Bakersfield plant.

Congress eyes second push for legislation that would rein in NSA ...

Members of Congress are considering 11 legislative measures to constrain the activities of the National Security Agency, in a major shift of political opinion in the eight weeks since the first revelations from whistleblower Edward Snowden.

The proposals range from repealing the legal foundations of key US surveillance powers to more moderate reforms of the secretive court proceedings for domestic spying. If enacted, the laws would represent the first rollback of the NSA's powers since 9/11.

The Guardian has spoken to six key lawmakers involved in the push to rein in the NSA, and those involved in the process argue there is now an emerging consensus that the bulk collection of millions of phone records needs to be overhauled or even ended.

Justin Amash, the Republican congressman whose measure to terminate the indiscriminate collection of phone data was narrowly defeated 10 days ago, said he was certain the next legislative push will succeed. "The people who voted no are, I think, hopeful to get another opportunity to vote yes on reforming this program and other programs," he said.

In the Senate, Democrat Ron Wyden said there was similarly "strong bipartisan support for fundamental reforms", a direct consequence of revelations about the nature and power of NSA surveillance. "Eight weeks ago, we wouldn't have had this debate in the Congress," he said. "Eight weeks ago there wouldn't have been this extraordinary vote."

On Thursday, Snowden was granted temporary asylum in Russia, to the fury of Washington. The White House said it was "extremely disappointed" in the decision, and hinted that Barack Obama may pull out of a bilateral summit with Vladimir Putin in September.

But even as Snowden was leaving the Moscow airport where he has been holed up for more than a month, Obama was telling key members of Congress at a meeting at the Oval Office that he was "open to suggestions" for reforming the NSA surveillance programs that have embroiled his administration in controversy.

Wyden, a long-standing critic of dragnet surveillance, is backing a range of legislative efforts that would end bulk phone records acquisition and revamp the foreign intelligence surveillance (Fisa) court, which grants the NSA legal authorization for its mass collection.

Several senators are supporting a bill introduced on Thursday by Democrat Richard Blumenthal which would introduce a public advocate into some proceedings at the court, which currently only hears the US government's case. In the past 30 years, it has turned down just 11 of the nearly 34,000 warrant requests submitted by federal authorities.

Senior administration officials have indicated they are open to Blumenthal's proposals ? which would not in themselves curtail the NSA's powers.

Another measure directed at the Fisa court is being brought by House Democrat Adam Schiff, who sits on the powerful intelligence committee. Under his plan, the court's judges, who are currently selected by the chief justice of the supreme court, would be appointed instead by the president, a process that would require them to undergo a congressional confirmation process.

"Then you have these judges publicly vetted on their fourth amendment views prior to being placed on the court," Schiff said, referring to the constitutional freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures.

Other measures seek to make government surveillance more transparent. This week Democratic senator Al Franken introduced a bill to force the US government to regularly report on the number of Americans whose data is being collated by the NSA. It would also permit internet companies to disclose the number of requests they receive for data. "The American public deserves more transparency, and my bill goes a long toward doing that," Franken said.

A similar bill has been introduced by his Democratic colleague Jeff Merkley, who wants to compel the administration to disclose the key legal ruling from the Fisa court that governs how phone records are collected.

Representative Zoe Lofgren, a California Democrat who on Friday introduced a bill promoting greater transparency around surveillance orders received by private companies, stressed the cross-party nature of the measures. "If you've noticed, we've not had a rash of bipartisan efforts in the House," she said, referring to the gridlock that has held up other legislation.

There are other lawmakers who are pushing for more profound reforms. They include Republican James Sensenbrenner, the author of the post-9/11 Patriot Act, which the NSA has used to justify some of its data collection methods. His support of the Amash amendment last week revealed how far Congress has shifted in the weeks since the Snowden leaks were published.

Sensenbrenner said the Patriot Act was being interpreted to allow for forms of surveillance that were never envisaged when it was passed. He now supports an Amash-style bill that would prevent the NSA from hoovering up phone records without specific justification.

Most of the efforts focus on constraining the NSA's ability to spy on Americans. There is less congressional support for limiting its spying on foreigners' internet communication. One major exception is a measure introduced by House Democrat Rush Holt, that would repeal both the Patriot Act and the Fisa Amendments Act of 2008, two legislative pillars of post-9/11 surveillance.

Holt, who previously served on the intelligence committee, represents the most sceptical wing of Congress. "I learned that the heads of the NSA and other intelligence agencies are schooled in secrecy and deception. You can't always believe everything they say," he said. "They say these have stopped 50 attacks or something like that, and though I'm not on the intelligence committee right now, and I can't speak item-by-item, I can be pretty sure that there's probably not too much truth to it."

His bill represents the most radical congressional attempt at surveillance reform. Its prospects are not good, particularly because it would curtail Prism, one of the NSA programs to spy on the internet communications in foreign lands.

Schiff said Prism was more popular in congress for two reasons. First, Prism "is focused outside the United States and not on US citizens". Second, Schiff said its effectiveness is "much more substantial" than the phone records collection.

Intelligence officials have struggled to show how collecting bulk phone metadata was critical to foiling even one terrorist plot.

Lawmakers may fume at the idea of collecting the phone records of Americans, but they seem nonplussed at the notion the NSA can freely access the emails of foreigners.

Even those who do have concerns about Prism ? such as Wyden ? are looking for ways to ensure Americans are not ensnared in its dragnet, rather than ending it entirely.

"It has become increasingly apparent that the balance between security and liberty has been tainted," Sensenbrenner said in a statement after he left the White House meeting. "The conversation was very productive and everyone agreed something must be done."

LeBron James reportedly weighing bid to become NBA union president

LeBron James is mulling a run for president?of the NBA's players union.

The Miami Heat star is considering whether to pursue the position previously held by Oklahoma City Thunder guard Derek Fisher, FoxSports.com's Jason Whitlock reported Wednesday.

?It?s something he has talked about with a small group of people,? a source close to James told Whitlock. ?He was very vocal at the meeting during the All-Star Weekend about the need for the union to dramatically change. There is a new executive director coming in and new commissioner (Adam Silver). He recognizes that this is the time for the union to change.?

Whitlock's source said that he thinks it's ?unlikely? James will bid for the job, however.

?LeBron doesn?t do anything halfway and he has serious concerns about whether he has the time he knows the job requires,? Whitlock quoted the source as saying. ?The demands on LeBron?s time are already substantial. Whether it?s formally or informally, LeBron has strong opinions on the future of the union and will be very active in the rebuilding process.?

The players could elect a new union president as early as late August at the union's summer meeting in Las Vegas, Whitlock reported.

US factory means buyers can customize Google phone

NEW YORK (AP) ? With its first smartphone designed completely in-house, Google is demonstrating one of the benefits of moving production from Asia to the U.S.: It's letting buyers customize phones to give them their own style.

Workers at the factory in Fort Worth, Texas, assemble the custom phone and Google ship it to the buyer's door within four days.

The Moto X is going on sale in about a month at all four national wireless carriers ? Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile ? starting at $200.

Initially, only AT&T will offer the customization option, but Google said it hopes to make it available across all carriers soon. The company will offer 18 different back covers ranging in color from "spearmint" to "cabernet," a choice of black or white fronts and seven different metallic accents for details like the volume button. That makes for 252 possible style variations of the phone.

In the fall, Google plans to offer four variants of wood for the back cover.

The Moto X is the first smartphone to be assembled in the U.S. Even though the concept of the smartphone was pioneered here and many phones have been designed in the U.S., the vast majority of phones are assembled in Asia.

With labor costs rising in China, some electronics manufacturers are looking to move manufacturing back to the U.S. Apple is moving production of its Mac Pro desktop computers to the U.S. this year.

The Fort Worth factory will let Google stamp the phone as "Made in the U.S.," but assembly is just the last step in the manufacturing process, and accounts for relatively little of the cost of a smartphone. The cost largely lies in the chips, battery and display, most of which come from Asian factories. For instance, research firm iSuppli estimates that the components of Samsung's latest flagship phone, the Galaxy S4, cost $229, while the assembly costs $8.

Google sees other value in a U.S. factory.

"Over time, by having the engineers closer to the factory floor, we'll be able to innovate faster and develop products that actually are quite interesting down the road," said Dennis Woodside, head of Google's Motorola division.

The factory is owned and run by Flextronics International Ltd., a Singapore-based contract electronics manufacturer. It's set to employ 2,000 people.

Google bought cellphone pioneer Motorola Mobility for $12.4 billion last year. While it launched some phones last year after the acquisition, those were designed while Motorola was still independent. The Moto X is the first phone that "gives you some indication of how Google is thinking of hardware," Woodside said in an interview.

Google has previously worked with other phone manufacturers to create Google-branded "Nexus" phones as launch platforms for new versions of Android.

The Moto X looks much like other smartphones, with a 4.7-inch touch screen. It comes with a no-frills implementation of Google's Android operating system, a contrast to recent phones from Samsung and HTC, which put their own stamp on the software with various add-ons.

The most unusual feature of the Moto X, apart from the customization option, is that it's always listening for its owner's voice. When it hears the phrase, "Ok, Google Now..." followed by a command like "call Bob," it will wake up from standby and execute the command ?provided it understands it. Most smartphones offer voice control, but it's usually activated by pressing a button.

Rick Osterloh, the head of product management at Motorola, said the Moto X has a special chip devoted to listening, which means it doesn't have the drain the battery by keeping the main processor running all the time. It should be able to pick up the owner's voice even in the noise of a car, he said.

Google is backing the launch with a big marketing campaign, including TV ads. The Moto X represents its best chance this year to make back some of the money it spent on buying Motorola, and the $1.7 billion the division has accumulated in operating losses since the acquisition.

Motorola has become marginalized in the global smartphone market, taking just 1 percent of recent sales, according to research firm IDC. Google has slashed Motorola's workforce to 4,600 people, down from 20,300 last year.

The acquisition was motivated mainly by Google's desire to own Motorola's patent portfolio, which provides it with ammunition to defend fellow makers of Android phones from Apple's and Microsoft's patent claims. Motorola's patents haven't proved very useful so far, and the division puts Google in the uncomfortable position of competing with other companies that make Android phones.

Analysts see another value in Motorola: it gives Google a toehold in smartphones, acting as insurance against the possibility that Samsung, the dominant maker of Android phones, could jump ship to another operating system or create its own version of Android.

Google's stock rose $16.47, nearly 2 percent, to $904.22 Thursday.

I admittedly am not the biggest Blake Griffin fan on the court. I think he is somewhat overrated as a player. But one thing about him that is not overrated is how high he gets up in the air for his highlight dunks. He is also pretty funny in commercials as well. Both of those traits were on full display in this new Jordan Brand commercial featuring Blake and the talented ?Dr. Drain?. You will find out who he is in the video. Hit the jump.

9 Things Nobody Ever Tells You About Post-Pregnancy Bodies

  • Your Bladder May Fail

"One of the main issues that many women have to deal with almost immediately is incontinence," said Dr. Mary Rosser, an assistant professor in the department of obstetrics, gynecology and women's health at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. Pregnancy and childbirth can weaken the pelvic floor muscles and, in some cases, cause damage to the nerves controlling the bladder -- regardless of how you deliver. Kegel exercises (think tightening your pelvic muscles as if you were trying to hold in urine) can help. Rosser typically tells her patients they can start kegel-ing almost immediately after birth, with the caveat that it shouldn't hurt. if it does, hold off until everything's healed."

  • You'll Lose Your Hair

No, not because of the stress of those early sleepless nights, but because during pregnancy the hair cycle "arrests" in the growth phase, explained Dr. Staci Tanouye, an OBGYN with the Mayo Clinic. Many pregnant women report having the thickest, fullest hair of their lives for the same reason. After pregnancy, the cycle restarts, so "there can be quite a bit of hair loss," Tanouye said. Many moms will get back to their normal thickness after a couple of months; others may end up with thinner hair indefinitely. But, silver lining! According to Rosser, the excess hair that also sprouts up on women's faces and bodies during pregnancy (the result of increased androgen, the male hormone) also typically falls off after baby is born.

  • You'll Sweat More

When you're pregnant, your body produces and retains more fluid, and after your baby's born, that fluid needs somewhere to go. That's why, in the days and weeks after their babies are born, many women experience serious night-sweats, in addition to peeing a lot more frequently. It's something Rosser personally experienced when she had a baby. "I'd told women about it, but I was dumbfounded," the OBGYN laughed. "I would wake up in cold sweats to the point that I had to take a shower to get warm."

  • Your Vagina Will Be Bigger (And Maybe A Little Gassy)

Yes, after you have a baby, your vagina will change. And no, it probably won't ever fully return to its pre-birth shape. But in most cases, any vaginal widening will be relatively minor. "After several weeks, women will see that it regains some muscle tone," said Rosser. "It shouldn't be a big change in the long run." It's also possible, though less common, for women to begin experiencing what is, essentially, vaginal gas. Dr. Shieva Ghofrany, an OBGYN with Stamford Hospital, in Conn., said she's had otherwise healthy patients tell her they notice a gas coming from their vaginas after they have babies. "Somehow, with all the changes, gas can escape from the rectum and slides into the vagina, then sneaks out," she explained. It should stop within a few months, said Ghofrany, who generally tells women to give their bodies a full eight to 10 months before everything truly settles down.

  • You'll Lose A Cup Size

It's not uncommon for women to drop a full bra size after having a baby, and we're talking compared to their pre-pregnancy chests, not those glorious mid- and post-pregnancy breasts. "They get saggy, they get smaller and it happens more with each pregnancy," Rosser said, adding that studies show the changes have less to do with breastfeeding than with pregnancy itself, as well as factors like whether a woman is overweight or a smoker.

  • ...And Your Breasts Could Leak For A Long Time

It's no surprise that breasts leak milk right after women have babies, but it is surprising for many women to discover that this can go on for years. Rosser's had women tell her their breasts began leaking a small amount up to two years after having their baby, typically triggered by hearing a friend or sister's newborn cry. Though it's usually harmless, Rosser does encourage women to go see a doctor to ensure that the discharge is normal.

  • You'll See Spots (In The Mirror)

Some women, particularly women with darker skin, develop melasma during pregnancy -- small patches of darker skin that look like freckles on their cheeks or foreheads -- explained Ghofrany. In some cases, the spots will fade, but many moms find that that melasma, often known as the "pregnancy mask," becomes permanent. If it's a concern, melasma can be treated with topical creams, Ghofrany said.

  • Your Feet Will Be Bigger

Immediately after your baby's birth, you may find that your feet and ankles swell, sometimes even more than they did when you were pregnant. Again, this has to do with all that fluid your body makes and retains during pregnancy, Rosser explained. It needs somewhere to go. Though that initial swelling should go away relatively quickly, many women find that the foot growth they experienced during pregnancy lasts for 6 months or beyond, and in some cases ... indefinitely. "Your feet can permanently go up by a size or two," said Ghofrany.

  • Your Overall Shape Will Change

"One of the things that many women don't realize is that even if they get back to their pre-pregnancy body weight, it'll be shaped differently," said Tanouye, who said that most of the changes will be in the "boobs, bottom and hips." Many women describe these hard-earned, motherly shape changes in the same way: "By the three month mark, I hear from a lot women that they're feeling better physically and better about their bodies -- and that they're feeling softer overall," she said. Perfect for snuggling equally soft babies, we say!

Consumers hungry for trucks in July, but fleet sales weak

By Ben Klayman and Deepa Seetharaman

DETROIT (Reuters) - Auto sales to individual U.S. consumers beat expectations in July and major automakers reported low inventories for many hot-selling models, such as Ford Motor Co's Fusion mid-size sedan, suggesting that sales would strengthen further this year.

Shares of General Motors Co and Ford rose Thursday after analysts and executives disclosed their so-called retail sales, which are considerably more lucrative than fleet sales to rental car agencies, governments and companies.

This overshadowed the fact that overall sales were weaker-than-expected. Analysts said results were undercut by disappointing fleet sales to governments and businesses, and overly optimistic Wall Street expectations after a strong June.

"The industry appears to be tightly supplied, which is just good for pricing and future production and so that's helping to offset the headline (annual sales rate) disappointment," Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas said.

Reports indicate that the U.S. annual auto sales rate in July will fall below the expected 15.8 million rate. Jonas said July's sales pace was on track to be around 15.5 million.

This fall, Ford will boost production capacity of its Fusion midsize sedan, which saw a 12 percent drop in sales last month. The Fusion is currently running at a 40 day supply but in some regions, supply is closer to 30 days including cars not yet on dealer lots.

    PICKUPS STILL STRONG

GM, Ford and Chrysler Group LLC also reported continued strong demand in July for pickup trucks like the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado and Ram 1500 amid busier times in the housing and oil industries.

In July, sales of Chrysler's Ram truck gained 31 percent, Ford's F-Series were up 22.6 percent and those for GM's trucks rose 44 percent.

Overall U.S. auto sales will likely grow during the rest of the year as automakers roll out their new 2014 lineup, which feature more technological advances than in years past, Jonas said.

For example, the upcoming Acura MDX costs $1,700 more, but has $4,000 more in new equipment and features.

"People who are looking to buy a car are thinking, 'This changeover is more substantial than we typically get. I want to wait,'" Jonas said. "It bodes very well for the second half."

(For a U.S. auto sales graphic, click on http://link.reuters.com/kad22v)

    'A GOOD PROBLEM TO HAVE'

Strong demand for pickups is particularly good news for U.S. automakers, which dominate that sector and generate profits of $12,000 or more per vehicle.

Chrysler launched a new version of its Ram pickup last fall, while GM started selling its redesigned Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks in June.

Most of GM's pickup sales during the month were for its older models, but the largest U.S. automaker still managed to gain market share and boost prices. That speaks to a broader appetite for trucks, analysts said.

"When you see pickup truck sales as strong as they were, that's certainly bodes well for the automakers and suppliers given the content in those vehicles," said Brian Sponheimer, analyst with Gabelli & Co.

"Calling the month a miss when sales look up double digits is a good problem to have," he said.

GM sold 234,071 cars and trucks in July, up 16 percent from a year ago. Ford, the No. 2 U.S. automaker, said its U.S. sales last month totaled 193,715 vehicles, up 11 percent. Chrysler, a unit of Italy's Fiat SpA , sold 140,102 vehicles, which was an 11 percent increase.

In July, both GM and Ford reported weaker-than-expected fleet sales, analysts said.

"Occasionally, you get these types of months where fleet does something a little wacky and it tends to sway the overall sales rate," Citi analyst Itay Michaeli said.

    'OVER-EXUBERANT' AFTER JUNE

Analysts also warned that soon-to-be released U.S. data on seasonality could shift the auto sales rate by a few tenths of a percentage point in either direction.

Still, July outpaced the overall industry's U.S. sales gains during the first half of the year -- even when factoring in the June sales rate of almost 16 million.

GM and Ford shares were both up 1.7 percent on the New York Stock Exchange. The broader S&P 500 was up 1 percent in early afternoon trading.

"We saw what happened in June, we expected to see that pace continue and while the market's still trending at a double-digit growth rate, perhaps everyone got a little bit over-exuberant after June's strong performance," said Alec Gutierrez, senior analyst with Kelley Blue Book.

Toyota Motor Corp said U.S. auto sales in July were up 17 percent to 193,394. If heavy trucks are subtracted from Ford's results, July marks the first month since March 2010 that Toyota sold more light vehicles than Ford.

U.S. auto sales have long been a bright spot in the U.S. economy, but there are signs that the overall market is gaining traction. U.S. data released on Thursday indicated that growth could accelerate in the second half of the year.

Immigration officers union says agency can't handle legalization

The union that represents the people who would have to decide who gets legalized under any new immigration law said in a letterApple-converted-space?>?TuesdayApple-converted-space?>?that the Obama administration is not ready to handle the influx of applications.

And Kenneth Palinkas, the president of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Council, which represents the 12,000 immigration officers and staff who work at USCIS, warned House Republicans that even flirting with a limited legalization such as just granting citizenship rights to so-called Dream Act immigrants could lead to problems.

?I cannot stress enough how ill-equipped USCIS is to engage in the sort of far-reaching plans before Congress right now ? including both the enormous legalization programs proposed as well as the historic increases in both immigrant and non-immigrant visas,? Mr. Palinkas wrote.

He addressed his letter to House GOP leaders who are trying to figure out how far to go in pushing legalization. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Judiciary Committee Chairman Robert W. Goodlatte, both Virginia Republicans, have said they will introduce a bill that would legalize Dream Act immigrants, who were illegally brought to the U.S. before the age of 16 and who are considered among the most sympathetic immigration cases.

But Mr. Palinkas said even if the GOP lawmakers try to limit their bill by setting an age limit and residency requirements, he expects the Obama administration would act unilaterally to expand the law.

?What is to stop the Administration from simply issuing another round of non-enforcement orders (written or oral) that would eviscerate any attempted limitations in your bill?? he wrote.

Mr. Palinkas also addressed his letter to Rep. Paul Ryan, the Wisconsin Republican who has taken a lead role in trying to sell House conservatives on a broad immigration bill, much as Sen. Marco Rubio did in the Senate debate.

House Republicans are facing increasing pressure from business groups and major GOP donors to pass a bill soon.

On Tuesday, nearly 100 donors and major former officials in the Bush administration sent a letter pleading with House Republicans to pass a bill legalizing illegal immigrants. They said not only could that help them win the political support of immigrant voters, but it would help the economy.

But the immigration issue continues to roil Republicans, with many rank-and-file voters rejecting anything that seems to them to resemble an amnesty for those who are breaking immigration laws.

And rank-and-file Republicans in the House fear that by passing any immigration legislation, the GOP is setting itself up for negotiations with the Senate on a final deal that could go well beyond whatever the House passes.

Mr. Palinkas, in his letter, said that?s a real fear.

?I would therefore urge all House lawmakers not to conference with the dangerous Senate bill that will produce a totally deficient comprehensive proposal, but instead to work with USCIS adjudicators to produce responsible reforms that enhance the integrity and security of our immigration system,? he wrote.

'Guardians Of The Galaxy' TwitPic: Drax Heads Underwater

    Dave Bautista

    by Brett White

The cast of "Guardians of the Galaxy" is hard at work following their triumphant appearance at San Diego Comic-Con a few weeks ago, and Dave Bautista's Twitter feed is quickly becoming the one to watch.

The wrestler-turned-actor keeps his hundreds of thousands of followers updated on his "Guardians" shooting schedule?at least as updated as he can while shooting a movie that's shrouded in secrecy. One of his most recent tweets, however, reveals what could be a plot point from Marvel's first space saga. The TwitPic shows Bautista engaged in some underwater training. Check out the whole tweet after the jump!

The tweet's text humorously simulates a conversation between Bautista and director James Gunn wherein Bautista frames the training as part of a campaign to play Marvel's undersea ruler, Namor. And yes, I just drained the fun tweet of all it's comedic power by explaining it in a dry sentence. I killed the funny. But what scene could Bautista be prepping for? Could one of their spaceships flood, or will the fugitive heroes find themselves under the sea?

One more interesting thing about this TwitPic: thanks to the water and lightning, Bautista looks as green as the character he plays in "Guardians." With the film shooting on closed sound stages, this is the closest we've come to seeing what any of the actors will look like in the final product.

Why do you think Drax is underwater? Let us know in the comments below or hit us up on Twitter!

Seattle's Harvin tweets he'll need surgery on hip

RENTON, Wash. (AP) ? Percy Harvin will have hip surgery on Thursday, sidelining the dynamic wide receiver for the start of his first season with the Seattle Seahawks.

Harvin made the announcement on his Twitter account on Tuesday night, hours after getting a second opinion on the injury in New York. The Seahawks then said the operation was scheduled for Thursday, but no timetable for recovery was provided.

Harvin was seeking more information about the hip soreness in the area of his labrum that popped up just before the Seahawks opened training camp. Harvin noted the discomfort when he reported for camp last Wednesday.

"When everything is goin good sometimes life throw u a curve ball... sorry to half to report that my injury will require surgery," Harvin wrote on his Twitter page. "Nobody was more anxious and excited about season then....but I will be back strong as ever."

Seattle coach Pete Carroll has not indicated which hip is bothering Harvin. He said earlier in the day that the team was still gathering information about Harvin's second opinion.

Harvin started training camp on the physically unable to perform list and likely will remain there until the team has a better idea of his recovery time. If Harvin starts the season on the PUP list he must miss the first six weeks and would have to return to practice by the end of Week 11 to avoid missing the entire season.

The loss of Harvin is significant, but not a huge setback for a team that relies on the legs of Marshawn Lynch and timely passing by Russell Wilson to drive its offense. Seattle invested significantly in Harvin, giving up draft picks to acquire him from Minnesota and signing him to a six-year deal reportedly worth up to $67 million.

But Seattle's offense averaged 32.9 points over the final nine games of last season without Harvin.

If the Seahawks need a timeline of how the recovery might go, they only need to look at fellow Seattle receiver Sidney Rice, who underwent hip surgery in August 2010, and then returned to action in Week 11 after missing the first 2? months of the season.

While Harvin was in New York on Tuesday, Rice was in Europe undergoing a procedure to help his knee, Carroll said. The procedure is non-surgical and Rice was expected to return to practice once he arrived back in Seattle.

Carroll seemed so unconcerned about Rice's procedure he jokingly asked reporters to guess where Rice was. Rice had been limited in practice the last few days before heading to Switzerland for the procedure. While Carroll didn't get into specifics, he said it's focused on addressing a muscle around Rice's knee and this was the only time available to have the procedure done.

"He was practicing fine when he was out here but this was a procedure that they've been waiting to do," Carroll said. "When he comes back here he'll go right back on the field. He didn't get hurt. We're just trying to help him along and we think we have something going here that might really help him."

Seattle also was without defensive end Cliff Avril, offensive tackle Michael Bowie and cornerback Ron Parker. All three players are dealing with hamstring issues that will keep them sidelined a few days.

NOTES: Seattle released TE Victor Marshall and re-signed LB/TE Jameson Konz following Tuesday's practice. Konz was originally selected by Seattle in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL draft. He appeared in one game in 2011 before injuring his knee and landing on injured reserve. ... DE Michael Bennett was absent from practice to attend to the birth of his child.

Put simply, we need to re-invent how we view the business of climate change. For too long we were presented a false choice: between the health of our children and the health of our economy. The truth is cutting carbon pollution will spark business innovation, resulting in cleaner forms of American-made energy. ? As more businesses embrace the opportunity of climate change, I see a chance to ?bend the curve? of both direct impact on carbon pollution and leveraging public and private sector investment in infrastructure and clean energy ? investments that will, in turn, fuel the complementary goals of turning America into a magnet for new jobs and manufacturing.? PALACE INTRIGUE ? ?Concern grows for Huma Abedin within Clinton world,? by Maggie Haberman: ?In 2011, Huma Abedin had support from her friends and Clinton associates when she decided to stay with her husband, ? Anthony Weiner. The past week, that support has morphed into concern. Their worry is as much about what she is going through personally ? a rapid turn from years of glowing media coverage of Abedin to front pages questioning her judgment ? as it is about her decision to stand by and encourage politically a husband who several Democrats now believe is way past the point of redemption. ? She remains in charge of running Clinton?s transition team, a slim staff of about a half-dozen aides, some of whom have other jobs ? though she is a full-time employee. The feelings about Weiner in Clintonland are unequivocal, according to one someone close to the couple: ?Everyone?s done with him.? ? [T]he swirl of embarrassing headlines surrounding Weiner and Abedin, combined with attention being paid to her outside consulting work while at the State Department, is proving to be another stress-test of the Clinton infrastructure in a year that was supposed to be relatively quiet ? ?In the next three months, Hillary Clinton is also expected hit the campaign trail in some form for longtime friend and Democratic Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe. All of this is pulling Clinton into the public eye beyond the speeches she?s giving on the paid-to-talk circuit, as she and her husband enter a phase of post-government life in which their family foundation has become their main organization. They are the latest in a series of Pig-Pen-like dust clouds that have seemed to follow the Clintons throughout their careers. But the challenges come at a time when Democratic donors are watching to see if Hillary Clinton can put together a more functional operation than her 2008 campaign. ? At minimum, the level of concern surrounds the judgment she exhibited in encouraging him to run even though he had resumed his sexting habit, as well as taking part in profiles that insinuated his misbehavior ended with his 2011 resignation ? [S]everal other people with ties to the Clintons say Abedin has remained upbeat and professional in email exchanges ? She knows she?s not a ?victim? or a bystander in the drama that has unfolded ? Clinton aides say Abedin remains in her job and will as long as she wants to. N.Y. TIMES ENDORSES JANET YELLEN for Fed chair in a tough, harsh lead editorial: ?Despite a campaign from allies both inside and outside the White House, the recent drive to install Lawrence Summers as the next chairman of the Federal Reserve seems to be faltering ? and with good reason: He is not the best person for the job ? But the group behind Mr. Summers does not give up easily. The idea is that the supposed rivalry between them ? fanned by Mr. Summers?s supporters ? has consumed both of them, requiring a third candidate. That is nonsense. Nothing that has occurred in the past week changes the fact that no one else can match Janet Yellen?s combination of academic credentials and policy-making experience. ?

?What has changed in the past week is that the power dynamics around economic policy-making have become more public than normal. Mr. Rubin and his circle ? including Mr. Summers; Timothy Geithner, Mr. Obama?s first Treasury secretary; and Gene Sperling, currently a top economic adviser to the president ? have dominated economic decisions in both the Clinton and Obama administrations. Most of them were also prominent in Wall Street circles in the George W. Bush years. In the wake of the financial crisis and the Dodd-Frank reform law, the Fed chairmanship has only become more central to the fate of the banks and economy; as a result, they want someone who shares their background and can be counted on to further their views. ? The facts are entirely on Ms. Yellen?s side.? http://nyti.ms/1bESv9U
