An Illinois bride, who had just been married in a last minute wedding Friday night, was found dead in a bathtub by police on Sunday with the unidentified groom missing.
Police said that they were alerted by a sister to check on 26-year-old bride named Estrella Carrera, after the sister became worried when she could not get in contact with her and Carrera herself did not call to check on her children.
She was found in an empty bathtub in a home outside of Chicago and had suffered multiple stab wounds, according to police, with an autopsy scheduled to happen on Monday.
Carrera had decided to get married at the last minute in a private ceremony to her on again and off again 30-year-old boyfriend of two years. Afterwards, the newlyweds held a party for the family and friends to celebrate and announce the nuptials, with Carrera last being seen alive around 2am on Saturday morning.
The groom was the father to Carrera?s two-year-old child, and she also had an 8-year-old child from a previous relationship.
A cousin of Carrera?s, Sandy Lopez told The Boston Herald, that Estrella married the man without anyone?s knowledge because she knew the family did not care for him very much.
?He?s just a person who had problems,? Lopez said adding her admiration for her cousin. ?She was a beautiful mother, person, sister.?
Police are currently investigating the incident as a homicide resulting from a domestic dispute and are actively looking for the groom.
