PEORIA, Ill. ? Tickets still remain for the final Braves Club Gameday Luncheon, presented by Herget Bank, Friday in the Renaissance Coliseum Basketball Performance Center.
The Bradley Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2013 will be the featured guests at Friday?s luncheon, a four-person group with a wealth of national and international acclaim. ?
Soccer player Gavin Glinton (1998-2001) remains the only four-year All-American in Bradley Athletics and Missouri Valley Conference men?s soccer history. ?The second-leading scorer in Valley history, Glinton was a second-round pick by the Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft and he played four years in Major League Soccer with the Galaxy, Dallas and San Jose. ?He also earned six national team CAPS for Turks & Caicos, including one in the Caribbean Island country?s first-ever international victory during the 2006 Digicel Caribbean Cup.
Samantha Hardwick (1998-2001) arguably is the best all-around volleyball player in Bradley history as the only Brave and second Valley player to accumulate more than 3,000 assists, 1,000 digs and 500 kills. ?While also adding 300 blocks to her career statistics, Hardwick led the Braves to a pair of 20-win seasons, including a 24-8 campaign and 14-4 Valley record in 2001. ?She is one of six players in Bradley Volleyball history to twice earn first-team All-MVC honors and she was the runner-up for the 2001 MVC Player-of-the-Year, finishing second to UNI?s Molly O?Brien, who will become the first-ever volleyball player inducted into the MVC Hall of Fame in March.
The founder of Mercury Sports, Phillip Lockwood (1981-83) is a past president of IPICO Sports, which provides high-tech, innovative timing and tracking systems for the active sports, wellness and recreation markets. ?He has assisted with some of the top international running competitions, including the 1996 Olympics, London and Boston Marathons and as race director for the last 19 Steamboat Classics in Peoria. ?Lockwood also helped establish the Peoria Komen Race for the Cure in 1986 while serving as that event?s Race Director for the past 22 years.
An accomplished runner himself, Lockwood set Bradley school record in the 10,000 meters during the 1982 track and field season.
Matt Savoie graduated summa cum laude from Bradley University in 2002 while simultaneously competing on the international figure skating circuit. ?After earning first alternate for Team USA for the 2002 Olympic Games, Savoie participated in the 2006 Winter Olympics, placing seventh in Men?s Singles Figure Skating in Torino, Italy.
Savoie placed among the top five in eight consecutive U.S. National Championships from 1999-2006 and he participated in three men?s figure skating World Championships in 2002, 2004 and 2006. ?Following his competitive career, Savoie completed a 4-year term as the athlete representative to the International Skating Union Single & Pair Skating Technical Committee.
