A general loss of hair over the entire head appearing when the usual cycle of growth, resting and shedding is disrupted is called telogen effluvium. So before launching into specific treatments, the first step should always be to confirm the diagnosis for the cause of the loss. If it?s due to a traumatic event such as surgery or a profound emotional shock, the hair will usually regrow naturally. Improving the diet may restore the thickness of the hair and retain growth. If a drug is suspected, reducing the dosage or changing to a different drug may solve the problem. This means a wait-and-see approach is the best. It?s never a good idea for a man to assume the first signs of hair loss must be followed by taking Propecia. There are too many other possible causes for this to be a safe assumption. A confirmed diagnosis of male pattern baldness is always the safest step before investing in Propecia.
